Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Story Keeper (the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Story Keeper is an independent, community-built app for organising a Yoto library. It is run by its maintainers, not by Yoto.

Story Keeper isn't owned, operated, sponsored or endorsed by Yoto, and Yoto doesn't review or approve anything on this site. “Yoto” and related names belong to their owner and are used here only to describe what Story Keeper works with.

Story Keeper does take part in Yoto's affiliate programme (see Affiliate links). That is a commercial arrangement for buy links only. It doesn't make Story Keeper part of Yoto, and it doesn't give Yoto any say in how Story Keeper works.

Some cards and products on Story Keeper have a “Buy from Yoto” link. These are affiliate links: if you follow one and buy something, Yoto may pay Story Keeper a commission through AWIN, the affiliate network that runs Yoto's programme.

• Every buy link is marked with the words “Story Keeper may earn a commission if you buy”, placed before the link.
• In some regions Story Keeper isn't in the programme yet. Links there still go to Yoto, and Story Keeper earns nothing from them. They carry the same words, so the label never depends on where you are.
• The person who made a list or registry doesn't earn anything from the buy links on it.
• Whether a card appears on Story Keeper, and what Story Keeper says about it, doesn't depend on whether it can earn a commission.
• Buying happens on Yoto's site, under Yoto's terms. Story Keeper doesn't handle payment, delivery or returns.

What happens to your data when you use a buy link is in the Privacy policy.

The Service is intended for parents and adult caregivers. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. The Service is not directed to children, and you may not use it on behalf of anyone who is not eligible. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.

You are responsible for the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You may close your account at any time; see your Settings and our Privacy Policy for account deletion.

You agree not to, and not to attempt to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the Service, or probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems;
• interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by overloading it, scraping it at scale, or circumventing rate limits or access controls;
• upload or share content that is unlawful, infringing, harmful, or that you do not have the right to share;
• Don't present yourself, your lists, or Story Keeper as made, sponsored or endorsed by Yoto. Story Keeper's place in Yoto's affiliate programme isn't an endorsement, and you mustn't describe it as one.
• use the Service to build a competing product or to resell access without our permission.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe harms the Service or other users.

The Service connects to third parties you choose to use — including Yoto (when you link your Yoto account), Polar (payments), and others described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. Linking or unlinking a Yoto account is always your choice, and you can disconnect it at any time from your Settings.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that catalog data will be complete or accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Story Keeper and its maintainer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will continue to apply.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there for any dispute that is not resolved informally. Before bringing any formal claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the matter informally.
